National ambulance project discussed

Manama, Oct. 1 (BNA)-- In the presence of Minister of State for Defence Affairs Lieutenant-General Doctor Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received today Minister of Health Sadiq Abdulkareem Al Shahabi and members of the National Central Ambulance Committee.
The meeting, which was also attended by Public Security Chief Major-General Tariq Al Hassan, convened to discuss details and aspects of the project that will come under the services of the Civil Defence at the Interior Ministry.

The project serves the five governorates and will be considered as a turning point in the ambulance services in Bahrain. At the beginning of the meeting, the Interior Minister expressed thanks and appreciation to the Minister of State for Defence Affairs for the interest in the national project. He hailed the efforts of the members of the project’s committee in implementing and completing its phases.

The participants were briefed about coordination between the emergency departments at Salmaniya Medical Complex, Bahrain Defence Force Hospital and King Hamad University Hospital to launch the vital project.

There will be a unified network for ambulance that associates all emergency departments and the creation of ambulance centers at the five governorates similar to the Civil Defence centers of the General Directorate of Civil Defence.

The briefing also included preparation procedures for the implementation of the project and the workforce required.

The Interior Minister underscored the importance of the project in catering to the needs of the people in Bahrain and keeping abreast of international development in the rescue and safety field. He thanked the ministers for their keenness to coordinate towards higher security and safety levels for the public. He stressed the importance of fast-tacking the implementation of the project through the help of international expertise.

The meeting was attended by the Health Ministry Undersecretary and representatives from BDF, the Civil Defence General Directorate and Interior Ministry Health and Social Affairs Directorate.
