Manama-June-3(BNA)The Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry has lodged a case against Islamic Action Society (Amal) seeking its dissolution. “The move follows a series of flagrant and continuous violations under law 26 for 2005 on political associations”, Political Associations Affairs Bureau said. The association has failed to convene a general conference for more than four years, flouting rules and regulations.
Its latest conference was declared null and void as it was held in a worshipping venue. In a statement issued today, the ministry accused Amal of being under the sway and taking its decisions from a religious authority which calls openly for violence and incites hatred. “The Islamic Action Society places this religious authority above the constitution”, the statement said, citing statements made Amal figures.
It also stands accused of financial irregularities, failing to submit a copy of its annual budget as per the law provisions.
“The association refused to regulate its situation and rectify the irregularities despite official notification”, the statement said, urging all political societies to commit to the constitution and abide by the law provision towards promoting national political, social and economic development.
