Manama, Jan. 14. (BNA) – The Interior Ministry's Inspector General Major-General Ibrahim Al Ghaith has released details of the legal investigation into the disappearance of Yousif Ahmed Abas.
In a statement released today, Major-general Ibrahim Al Ghaith said that legal investigation was launched on Wednesday (January 11) as soon as the young man's family filed a missing person's case at the Muharraq Governorate Police.
The inquiry determined that the name of Youssef Ahmed Abbas, 24, did not feature in the list of detainees at the General Directorate of Crime Detection and Forensic Science or any of the other security directorates, nor was he wanted in any legal case.
The youth's parents were informed of the details of the ongoing investigation and assured that the case would not be closed until the circumstances behind his disappearance were known.
At 16:52 on January 13, the police received a call reporting a dead body found off Amwaj Islands, inspected the scene and found a dead body which turned to be that of Yousif Ahmed Abas, he also said.
An autopsy performed by the medical examiner determined that Abbas had been dead for more than 24 hours and that the cause of death was drowning, he explained.
The Major-General concluded his statement by saying that when Abbas' father filed the missing persons case, he stated that his son used to go to the beach and often needed assistance coming home because he suffered from psychological problems.
